We at Sebastiano's have compiled a list of the questions we hear the most.
We hope that this page will help you through all the planning that is necessary.

  • How much time in advance is needed to place an order?

    Generally Speaking,

    Cold platters or party hero's orders should be placed 2-3 days in advance.

    Hot smorgasbord package orders should be placed 1-2 weeks prior to party date.

    A La Carte (Individual Trays) orders should be placed 2-3 days in advance


    Often times, “last minute” situations do occur, so please call us immediately if you require catering on a short notice basis. We will do everything possible to help fill your order with one day, or sometimes, even same day notice.

  • How much deposit do i have to leave when my order is placed?

    In most cases, a 25% deposit is required when you place a new order.

  • How can i be sure i will have enough food?

    When you order a Catering Package such as Deluxe Hot Smorgasbord, you are ordering by the PERSON. As long as you tell us how many people will be attending, we guarantee that you will have enough food for the amount of people you ordered for.


    If you are ordering A La Carte (Individual Trays), you are ordering food that will generally feed a specified amount of people, and that number will vary from dish to dish. For more information on how many people A La Carte trays will feed, please see "How many guests do Trays Feed" section.


    As always, our staff is on hand to assist you in ordering the right amount of food. Please call us so we can discuss the right amount of trays needed for your event.

  • What is the difference between the "hot" and "deluxe hot" smorgasbords?

    The only difference between the the two packages, is the "Deluxe" Hot Smorgasbord contains veal, seafood and special pasta choices. Please Note: On the Deluxe Hot Smorgasbord we can also prepare any specialty dish you request. It does not have to be listed on the menu. This is the only difference between the two packages. All other items included are identical. You can be assured of Sebastiano's quality on all food catered by us.

  • What is the payment procedure?

    All Catering orders require a 25% deposit.


    Final payments should be as follows:


    All Catering packages scheduled for delivery should be paid in full at a minimum of 3 days prior to your event.


    All pick up orders can be paid in full upon pick up. However, it is recommended that these orders be paid in full prior to your event date, to help expedite your wait time.


    All Weddings, Picnics, or larger sized events must be paid in full two weeks prior to the event date.


    All payments must be made in Cash, Certified Check, Money Order or Credit Card (see below). Personal checks will not be accepted unless payment is made 2 weeks prior to party date.

  • What about equipment deposits?

    Equipment deposits are required for racks and coffee urns.

    This deposit will be refunded in FULL when all equipment is returned in good & clean condition.


    NO equipment deposit is necessary if you have Wait Staff personnel provided by us.


    Amounts of deposit required:

    Racks (Chafing Stands) $5.00 each

    Coffee Urns $75.00 each

    Hot Dog Cart $150.00 each

  • How much gratuity is expected for the wait staff?

    Just like a restaurant wait staff, a gratuity of any kind is greatly appreciated but not mandatory.

    The industry average is 15-25%.

  • What are delivery requirements?

    Usually, only catering orders of $500.00 or more can be delivered.


    All our food is delivered piping hot, or refrigerated, in our fleet of custom fitted vehicles, ready for immediate consumption. Our delivery personnel will deliver & set up to your requirements.


    Please Note: Due to extreme volume of business in the months of: December, April, May, June, July, and August,& September our delivery requirements may change.

  • Can I be sure the food is fresh?

    ALL of our custom dishes are prepared fresh for each individual occasion.

    We only use the freshest & finest ingredients to ensure your complete satisfaction.


    NO FOOD IS EVER FROZEN OR DEFROSTED!

  • How many guests do trays of food feed?

    This may vary with the selections you choose to have at your occasion.

    The rule of thumb is:


    ONE HALF TRAY SERVES 5-7 PEOPLE

    ONE FULL TRAY SERVES 10-12 PEOPLE


    Since there are so many variables, a Sebastiano's representative will always be available to assist you in making sure you have the "Right" amount of food at your affair.

  • Do children count as a full guest?

    Children ages 2-6 are usually counted on a Three to One ratio.

    Children ages 6-14 are usually counted on a Two to One ratio.


    Often times, we suggest a separate children’s menu in lieu of allotting for children eating from the main menu. Our representatives would be happy to assist you with this.

  • When are tents, tables and chairs delivered?

    Depending on your date/time/location of your party.


    Equipment drop offs or set ups are usually done one to two days prior to your event.


    This is subject to change based on the venue’s requirements, or in the case of a surprise party.


    Equipment rentals are handled on an individual basis based on your timeline.

  • What is the delivery area we cover?

    Sebastiano's covers the entire Long Island, New York area.


    If your event is not on Long Island, we also cater to each of the Five Boroughs.


    Separate travel charges apply, based on your exact location.

  • Is there a charge for a party consultation with a Sebastiano's representative?

    NO.


    There is never a charge for talking with us. Just call or E-Mail us and a Sebastiano's representative will be happy to consult you on your special event.

  • How about online ordering?

    Online Ordering will be available in early 2014!


    Now you can place your catering orders for most of our menu items from the comfort of your own house, 24 hours a day 7 days a week!


    If you require special needs, or need a dish prepared a certain way, we do suggest you call in your order and speak to our representative and have us assist you in placing the order.
